The stories you’ve heard a hundred times. And the ones you haven’t.

Each week Robin rings your mum or dad for a proper chat about their life, at a time that suits them. Their stories become a book with their name on the spine.

Mum laughs on a cordless phone in her green armchair, holding a mug, while her brown-and-white spaniel sleeps at her feet.

How it works

Nothing for them to learn. They just answer the phone.

  1. A notebook, pencil and cordless phone.

Step 1: You tell us about them

A ten-minute call with you: who they are, and the things you’ve always wanted to know.

  2. A cordless phone beside a calendar with their chosen day marked.

Step 2: They pick the time

Robin (an AI, and a very good listener) rings when it suits them, from one number you save in their phone. They can ring Robin too, whenever they like.

  3. Mum enjoys a phone chat and gestures with her free hand.

Step 3: A proper chat about their life

As long or short as they like. If they don’t enjoy the first call, you get your money back.

  4. An open sage-covered book with a small garden illustration.

    Step 4: A book arrives

Their stories, in their words. They decide what goes in, story by story.

Worried they won’t answer an unknown number? Before the first call, you save Robin’s number in their phone, so they always know who’s ringing.

One gentle question at a time, at the pace they set. And they decide what goes in the book.

  1. Robin

Hello Margaret, it’s Robin from Yarn. Is now still a good time for our chat?

  2. Margaret

It is, love. I’ve just put the kettle on.

  3. Robin

Last week you mentioned your first job. Where was it?

  4. Margaret

Harrington’s, the bakery on the corner. I started the week after my sixteenth birthday.

Their stories are theirs

Nothing is shared without their say.

What they tell Robin belongs to them. They decide who hears it and what goes in the book.

  • They choose who hears

Only the people they choose can hear their recordings or read their stories.

  • They decide what goes in

Nothing goes in the book until they’re happy with it.

  • Never used to train AI

Their calls and stories are never used to train AI, ours or anyone else’s.

  • Theirs to delete

They can delete any story, or everything, whenever they like.

How to tell them:

“It’s a chat about your life, and you decide what anyone else sees.”

Questions

Who is Robin?

Robin is an AI interviewer. It listens, asks gentle follow-up questions and writes up their stories. Robin never pretends to be a person.

What if they don’t enjoy it?

Robin asks them first, and a no is a no. If they don’t enjoy the first call, you get your money back.

What if they don’t answer unknown numbers?

Before the first call you save Robin’s number in their phone, so they always know who’s ringing. They can ring Robin too, whenever it suits them.

Do they need a computer?

No. A landline or mobile is enough.

Will I hear everything they say?

No. They decide what the family hears, story by story.

Are the calls recorded?

Yes, so nothing gets lost. The recordings are theirs, and they choose who can hear them. They can delete any of them whenever they like.
